Retail Buyers Guide: Snowboard Boots FW17/18
CATEGORY: SNOWBOARD BOOTS
What are the three most important products of your 17/18 line? Why?
Domain CR (version of the Domain, pretty appreciated freeride boot, for step-in crampons), Edge (a new model that comes with the new Stamina outsole with a new compound, more elastic and more responsive than the regular EVA), Hover SPIN that has our SPIN closure system.
What’s new in lacing – sticking with trad, working with Boa, or doing your own thing? Where is the demand?
Our SPIN lace closure system is micrometric, fast and pretty user friendly, you turn the knob to tighten the lacing system, you pull forward the puller to open the boot. Based on the well tested system of our Bike division, we made it bulletproof for the Snowboard industry.
Splitboarding is performing well in a tough market. What’s the best splitboard boot in your line?
Domain is really appreciated for this kind of use and it has good reviews already. For the new line we are also proposing it in the CR version that has crampon grooves on the heel and toe for Step-In Crampons.
What colorways, prints, patterns, influences and textures will we see in your range aesthetic?
Being a boots specialist doesn’t mean that you have to focus on comfort, closure systems and the technical aspects only. That’s why, starting from the research, we do our best to give a perfect look to our products. For this collection we were inspired by the bond with mountain elements, finding colorway on rocks and forests; searching textures and material finishes which remind us of wood and water.
Which part of your range are you investing in the most? Freestyle, freeride, do-it-all, beginner…? Why?
We are having such a good response on dedicated boot for Freestyle and Freeride; Prophecy and Domain and so we pushed these two models with new features. We are also providing a new outsole named Stamina with an EVA compound which is more responsive than the regular EVA on the new Edge for a light do-it-all boot at such an interesting price point.
Are you doing anything in particular to make your boots go on easily when clients try them in the store?
We provide some pouf to sit on ;)!? They are quick to open with both our system SL and SPIN, being recognized for their great fit and comfortable liner
Materials: using any new branded tech? Vibram, Sympatex, maple syrup?
Anything new in cushioning/impact absorption? New EVA compound for our new Stamina outsole, more elastic and responsive than regular EVA
What trends in other footwear sectors have made an impression on your 17/18 line? None in particular, but for sure it is a kind of mix coming from other outdoor mountain shoes and streetwear.
