What’s the overall theme behind your 2017/18 outerwear?
TRAVIS RICE COLLECTION: From tearing down the steepest Alaskan spines to ripping up XXL booters, Travis is all about versatility. Which is why we’ve created a full product range to support his ride, all season long. From our gold standard mega stretch technology through to our eco-conscious recycled Repreve yarn, we’ve got the outerwear solution for every terrain, season and pricepoint. Meanwhile, a full range of layers and accessories covers all Travis’s bases, on and off the mountain.
PRINT: Based on detailed macro photography of a marine Iguana’s skin, this stylish camo effect print is inspired by Travis’s love of nature, and our shared appreciation of the mountain and the wave.
HIGHLINE: Created for the serious backcountry adventurer, our Highline series takes technology and functionality to the higher ground. To create the highest performance outerwear possible, we match the most advanced GORE-TEX® fabrics and technologies with design that’s lean, light, and progressive as it gets.
SUSTAINABILITY: 30% of the range is using recycled materials. Working with Repreve, a leading producer of recycled fibers, we’re turning recycled plastic bottles into advanced mountainwear fabrics. And, as a company that’s been built on a shared love for mother nature, we’re pretty sure an eco-minded approach with zero compromise on quality can only be a good thing.
FEEL THE FREDOM / UNLIMITED FREEDOM TO RIDE: To unleash your potential on the mountain, maximise your mobility. Taking this team-led philosophy to heart, we’ve worked closely with our athletes to develop a new range of high performance outerwear that takes stretch fabric technology to the next level. The result is two levels of stretch: the first utilises our recycled Repreve Yarn for everyday great stretch and comfort, while the second, developed by Japanese textile specialists Toray, delivers Mega Stretch, for unlimited freedom of movement.
KEY PRODUCT FOCUS: What are the two most important products in your 2017/18 range? Why? Please tell us about them.
TR STRETCH JK: As a rider known for having zero limits on the mountain, Travis demands maximum mobility from his outerwear. Enter the TR Stretch Jacket: utilising custom fabric from Japanese textile specialists Toray, mega stretch panels are placed strategically in key mobility zones in the center back, shoulder and side areas, allowing for a stylish performance fit with total freedom of movement. Meanwhile, chest vents work with Quiksilver’s DRYFLIGHT technology to create next level waterproof breathable performance, and YKK Aquaguard Zippers seal the weatherproof deal.
BLACK ALDER GORE-TEX JK: Mountain tech meets urban style with this high performance GORE-TEX 2L parka that’s designed for hunting powder in the backcountry, but won’t look out of place on the winter commute. Waterproof, windproof and highly breathable GORE-TEX 2L fabric with full taped seams keeps out the worst the mountain can offer. Meanwhile, a drop tail at the back and YKK Aquaguard half Zipper at the front keep the snow locked out, and the style locked in.
