GB Olympic Bronze medalist, Jenny Jones, is to join Ticket to Ride’s upcoming Bordeaux to Bilbao surf and cycle trip in September 2017. Jenny will join the guests throughout the 300 mile route which will average around 50 miles a day with a layover day in Hossegor.
Press Release: GB Olympic Slopestyle medallist and all round action sports sensation Jenny Jones will be joining Ticket to Ride’s unique Bordeaux to Bilbao surf and cycle adventure from 2nd – 10th September.
Jenny will be cycling and surfing with the guests over the 300 mile route from Bordeaux to Bilbao, which includes a layover day in the European surf capital of Hossegor.
Averaging around 50 miles a day, the route will follow the coastline over a carefully thought out itinerary combining heritage surf spots and stunning landscapes, complemented with the famous cuisine of the region.
The tour will be lead by two experienced Ticket to Ride Trip Leaders and supported with a dedicated Chef, surf instructors and hospitality crew who will serve healthy hearty meals, and set up a unique camp at each location allowing the guests to focus on the daily cycle, waves, and local food, safe in the knowledge that they are being well looked after.
“I’m super stoked to get on board with this trip. It’s a great concept that suits me down to the ground as it incorporates two of my favourite summer activities… cycling and surfing! Double whammy. Love the idea of combining them and creating one epic adventure across France and into Spain. It’s going to be a truly memorable experience!” said Jenny.
Linley Lewis, Founder of Ticket to Ride, added: “We’re really excited about this trip, and by having Jenny on board, she’ll be the perfect role model and motivator for everyone, and not to mention a great story telling addition for around the campfire!”
The trip will be lead by experienced surf traveller and cyclist Max Hepworth-Povey, with Will Jessup, who together cycled the route two years ago as part of a charity fund-raiser which saw them cycle from Cornwall to Santander, raising over £2,000 for Waves for Change.
The week costs £1,295pp and includes airport transfers, accommodation, all meals and snacks, surf equipment and tuition, as well as surf and cycle specific yoga. Guests will need to bring their own bikes, or can rent one locally. They will be provided with their own tent and comfortable camping bed, which will be set up for them daily at each different location. Everyone will receive a goodie bag upon arrival, and the journey will be fully documented as a lasting souvenir to immortalise the week.
