Press Release: Even in the youngest category, Wakeboard Girls (U15), Sliders Cablepark in El Gouna saw some great talents. The youngsters performed technical air-tricks and showed great control on the features. Aurelie Godet from France won gold, followed by Iris van Suchtelen van de Haare (NEL) and Monika Havranakova (CZE). Also the Wakeboard Boys (U15) finalists showed a great level of riding and did very hard air-tricks like KGB ́s, Raley with Frontside and Backside 360 ́s and several 720 ́s on the kickers. In the end Max Milde from Germany ended up first, Boris Ryazantsev (RUS) second and Kieran Owens (GBR) on third place.

For the junior Wakeskaters (U19) it was a tough battle for gold due to windy conditions, which made it even harder to perform flat-tricks. Never the less winner Mateo Collard (FRA) and silver medalist Daniel Smits (NED) both landed their Kick flips. Theo Balsar (FRA) ended up third showing various big spins, shuvits and 360 ́s. In the Junior Ladies division (U19) Telma Cester (ESP) took first place, followed by Juliette Labelle (FRA) and Martina Andrzejczak (POL).

The biggest highlight was the run for gold from 14-year Old Russian Martina Kacheeva in the Junior Ladies division (U19). Even after falling in her first run, she kept cool and performed a great second lap, including a Mobe and other technical difficulties. Claudia Pagnini (ITA) won silver and Marie Grüneberg (GER) bronze.

Current Masters Ladies (30+) World Champion Steph Caller (GBR) took the E&A title in front of Julie Dromer (FRA) and Natalia Grabowska (POL). Among the Masters Men division the riding level is getting higher and higher every year. 31-year old Robin Leonard “Thor” Jensen (DNK) defeated Stefan Lebwohl from Austria and Dale Crossley from Great Britain with super stylish tricks on the features, including a toeside backside 450 transfer towards the Elephant Box. Raphael Menconi (FRA), followed by Alexander Gamayunov (RUS) and Rolando Fociani (ITA), ending up on second and third position, won the Veterans category (40+).

The toughest battle was in Junior Men, as almost every finalist had a stand-up first run, packed with the highest level of tricks, such as Raley 540, Frontmobe 540, Backmobe 540, KGB, Pete Rose, Eastmobe (Toeside Frontroll FS 360), several 900 ́s over the kickers, and plenty of insane feature hits. Half-time leader Florian Weiherer (GER) impressed the judges with great technical performance combined with his unique style and control. The others tried to step up in their second runs, which lead to long-lasting excitement. In the end Philipp Koch (GER) came closest and took silver ahead of Nikolay Volokhov (RUS) who won bronze.

Today the Cable Wakeboard Europe & Africa Championships 2017 at Sliders cablepark in El Gouna will continue with the qualifications in Open (=Pro) Wakeboard, Wakeskate and Seated (handicapped) categories.
