Bright European Skateboard Awards | Berlin, 2018

The sixth annual Bright European Skateboard Awards (BESAs) are back this coming January and will be held in Berlin’s Festsaal Kreuzberg. This year the awards will be selected slightly differently with six categories being voted for by the public and a further five categories being selected by a panel of judges. 

Press Release: Six years after the inaugural Bright European Skateboard Awards ceremony in Berlin, the BESAs will be back in a few weeks with some slightly changes : Initiated by Bright, and presented together with Solo Skateboarding Magazine and skatedeluxe, the 7th instalment of Europe’s leading industry award will go down at Berlin’s Festsaal Kreuzberg on January 16, 2018.

Celebrating the people who make European skateboarding happen for the 7th year, the 2018 BESAs will be awarding 11 categories.

For the first time, the judging will take place under a new format: a board of 8 Jury members will be discussing the nominees and voting for their favourite contender. This year’s jury will be composed by industry staple names from various origin and background.

As before, the public will be able to cast their vote in 6 of the categories, starting January 2nd and running until January 7th. These categories are:

EUROPEAN SKATER OF THE YEAR

EUROPEAN FEMALE SKATER OF THE YEAR

ROOKIE OF THE YEAR

BRAND OF THE YEAR

VIDEO PROJECT OF THE YEAR

SHOP OF THE YEAR

The following five awards will be handpicked exclusively by the jury:

VIDEOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR

MEDIA OF THE YEAR

THE SKATE AID CHARITY OF THE YEAR

LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT

The Public voting is presented by Solo, skatedeluxe, and Bright. It is translated in 6 languages (DE, EN, ES, FR, NL, IT) and available all over Europe.

The ceremony evening on the 16th of January starts  at 20.00 and will be hosted by a surprise appearance. All video productions are made by Mark Nickels.

The Party starts at 22.30 with a DJ set of Bleibtreuboy Team Rhythmusgymnastik and live act 67 from London.

The evening will be live streamed by skatedeluxe and running through all 3 channels.
