Adidas Skateboarding reveals its highly anticipated capsule collection by renowned artist David M. Cook aka Bonethrower. Best known for his unique style and take on mysticism and memento mori, the adidas Skateboarding x Bonethrower collaboration channels Bonethrower’s immersive background in psychedelic art, skateboarding, and DIY culture for this limited edition footwear and apparel collection. Working in partnership with the Better Cotton Initiative, a selection from the collection was ethically sourced to help improve cotton production worldwide.

“The inspiration behind this collaboration was to try and best combine the world of adidas skateboarding with the one I created with YOD,” Bonethrower says about the idea to mesh his fictional world with real world skateboarding. “The wizards and warriors of YOD are from a world where every day is a battle for survival and it’s a struggle to get to the end of the day to grab a cold one at the bar with your friends.”

Applying Bonethrower’s unmistakable aesthetic of bright, bold colours and graphic lines, the limited edition adidas Skateboarding x Bonethrower collection leads with a customised Matchcourt shoe, track jacket and includes a snapback hat, t-shirt and long sleeve tee. Bonethrower’s fine-lined iconography reads like modern hieroglyphics, marking new territory while creating a synergy between Latin folk art and Los Angeles’ modern visual swell. Through depth and simplicity, a new street language is created, with adidas’ silhouettes providing the heritage to tell new stories.

Matchcourt x Bonethrower

The Matchcourt x Bonethrower is made with a lightweight, collegiate navy canvas upper, providing breathability and mobility, and features custom Bonethrower artwork including his signature spider graphic and embroidered cross bones. Performance features are comprised of a high-quality rubber toe cap for extra durability and a grippy rubber outsole fit for impact, feel, and greater board control.

A modern take on classic sportswear, the adidas Skateboarding x Bonethrower Jacket boasts intricately lined Bonethrower art and subtle construction, keeping the minimal, yet transformative aesthetic consistent throughout the collection. Constructed from a heavyweight piqué, the jacket has a ribbed stand-up collar, side seam pockets and a full-zip front. adidas’ iconic three-stripes is found along the jacket’s shoulders, while a rubber-print Bonethrower logo hits above the brand’s famed trefoil mark on the jacket’s front.

With his pop culture influences and deviant style, Bonethrower adds a new, hallucinatory and iconic take on tried-and-true designs with the adidas Skateboarding x Bonethrower Tee and Longsleeve Tee. Created in partnership with the Better Cotton Initiative the cotton crewneck tee is ethically sourced. The Bonethrower Longsleeve Tee features his memento mori-style skull artwork and is made from a fast drying climalite® fabric that continuously wicks moisture away and off the body.
