7TH SKY NOW PRINTED ON ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY PAPER

This news maybe a little old but for those that don't know already, the brilliant Swiss lifestyle magazine 7th Sky will now be printed on FSC paper to the benefit of everyone living on this fine planet - that means YOU!

Editor-at-large Trey Cook caught up with Corinne Tache-Berther (Coco to you and i) and she gave us the who, what, where and most importantly why.

First of all - Congrats Coco!

S: What is FSC paper?
C: It’s a quality label of paper (like ISO) that responses at criterias well defined respecting environnement. It goes from ecological cutting the trees to the edological fabrics of the paper, to the stocking in the printer house. They said that for 10 trees cut, they replant 20!

S: Why did 7Sky switch? What will the results be?
C: It was a neccessary step for our conscience, our believings and we owe it to Mother Nature! Even if it costs more. We had to order the paper in January to get it in April. The first 7sky on FSC will come out in September for our ‘eco’ issue and we can’t wait...

S : What are the challenges you faced in making the switch to FSC? C: We were pretty much afraid of an important quality-loss of paper and print. Finally, the fear that wasn’t grounded at all. When you see the new 7sky People/Pong on this paper, you will fall in love with it! It’s so smooth, like touching a dolphin, it’s just amazing! The paper feels more solid, doesn’t let fold-marks so easily. We print on mat. We have definately upgraded our mag.

S : Why is this an important move for your mag and for the industry? C: It’s our duty to respect and help Mother Nature with the means we have. We’re such a consumer-society, it’s time now to do actively something for HER. And there is much to do.
