Snowboarding legend Paul Gruber started the annual Longboard Classic in 1999 at a time when snowboarders were firmly seen as outsiders on the slopes and certainly weren’t welcomed everywhere. The Longboard Classic developed into a huge event and is still the largest and best-attended snowboarding race in the world. Described as the ‘Woodstock of Snowboarding’, generally because of its open-minded and fun spirit, the race invites riders from all ages to compete in one of three categories; LBC Master, LBC Old School and LBC No School.
