24 MARCH 2022 – Boardsports heritage brand, Globe, has today announced the release of the latest GLOBE + Pantone Color of the Yearlimited-edition skateboard box set. This fresh instalment in Globe’s ongoing collaboration with Pantone and the Pantone Color Institute features the official Pantone Color of the Year 2022, Pantone 17-3938 Very Peri – along with the two colors named Pantone Color of the Year 2021, PANTONE 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and PANTONE 13-0647 Illuminating.

For over 20 years now, Pantone’s Color of the Year has influenced key product development and purchasing decisions across fashion and furnishings, as well as product, packaging and graphic design. The choice of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri for 2022 marks the first time that a new color has been created for the Pantone catalogue and named as Color of the Year.

On the choice of PANTONE 17-3938 Very Peri, and the influence that Pantone has within creative circles, Globe President of Global Product, Matt Wong, said: “As a collective of designers, filmmakers and creatives, we rely on what Pantone has created  to make our work match our vision. After what was potentially the weirdest year we have ever experienced, the choice of Very Peri feels encouraging. Like a declaration that courage and exploration are going to be the motivators that shape our creative lives in the post-pandemic years to come.”

Each of the three 8.25” skateboard decks in this latest limited-edition drop features Globe’s signature Resin-7 Canadian maple construction. The boards are laser engraved and paint dipped for a high gloss expression of the Pantone Color of the Year that each deck celebrates. The Pantone number, color story and official collaboration information are also laser etched into the top side of each deck.

A one-time drop of these GLOBE + Pantone Color of the Yearlimited-edition color skateboard decks are now available online at globebrand.com, at Globe Cabin Stores and through select retail partners across the US, Australasia and Europe.
