With many thanks to the community for their donations, the 20th anniversary edition of the Blue Yearbook has gone on sale. Earlier in the year, Blue Mag set up a crowdfunding page to raise the funds necessary for printing and publishing and the surf community were quick to lend a hand. The 2020 Blue Yearbook can be found in selected stores and online.
BLUE Yearbook 2020 – on sale thanks to successful crowdfunding!
The 20th-anniversary edition of the Blue is out and we couldn’t be prouder. Not only because this issue celebrates 20 years of German surfing culture together with unique artists and stories from all over the world, but mainly because we are proud of our community. Without the support of our crowdfunding BLUE 2020 would not have been possible. As a thank you, we have given everything to make the Yearbook 2020 as unique as possible. We still hold on to our basic idea of providing a stage for timeless stories.
Our 180 pages 20th-anniversary issue features stories from some heavyweights of surf journalism. Jamie Brisick introduces the Brothers Marshall – Malibus trash icons who are bringing back the fun to the lineup. Matt George digs deep into the history of G-land and photo-journalist Lewis Arnold unveils the dark side of the neoprene industry and reports from his visit to Reserve/Lousiana.
On top we have photo folios from Christa Funk, she presents her best water shots from Hawaii’s north shore and Steve McCurry who picked some highlights from 40 years of documenting his travels.
Malvinas – The Gauchos del Mar searching for waves on the Falkland Islands
By hand project – The Higginbotham twins paddle 2.200 miles on prone paddle boards from Alaska to Mexico
Portrait: Basque underdog Ainara Aymat
20 Years of BLUE: a 20-page photo story
… and much more…
And: as we could not decide on only one cover – we celebrate our anniversary with 4 different ones!!
