POWPOW Splitboard Festival Starts Tomorrow (Dec, 18) in French Alps

Just before Christmas, on the first weekend of the French holidays (December 18-19), splitboarders and snowboarders will descend on Col Des Aravis, La Clusaz in the French Alps for the POWPOW Splitboard Festival.

On the border of Savoie and Haute-Savoie with a spectacular view of Mont Blanc, the festival will focus on everything splitboard. With a jam packed schedule of activities that are free to the public, the festival is set to be massive.

There’ll be a test village, splitboard intro courses, a beacon search park, clinics (101, repair, maintenance), mountain rescue, snow safety, winter camping & backcountry workshops.

In the test village, attendees will be able to try out splitboards, bindings and boots whilst getting information, recommendations and advice from the sellers about each product.

Guests will also be able to participate in splitboard introductory courses, under the guidance of qualified mountain guides and instructors.

Run by the local volunteer mountain rescue corps, there’ll be workshops on planning a day in the backcountry and what to do in case of an emergency. On Saturday, the afternoon will be packed with a 3 hour Snow Safety workshop, immediately followed by a Winter Camping workshop where the crew will spend the night under the stars with any guests brave enough to bring their tents and sleeping systems.

The POWPOW crew of local mountain guides and snowboard instructors includes some of France’s most qualified splitboarders and snowboarders, including local Junior Freeride World Champion Stella Pichedda and professional snowboarder, splitboarder and filmmaker Thomas Delfino.

Come and hang out with Mr.Peufpeuf and learn about splitboarding and snowsafety!
