ISPO Winter 2020 Roundup 1 + SOURCE 100th Issue Party Recap

ISPO 2020 marks a historic landmark for SOURCE, where we celebrated our 100th issue. It seems only fitting that we celebrated such a feat at ISPO, the annual gathering of the European snowboard industry and we marked the occasion in true, old school ISPO style – with a shit load of beer and a booth party. Mizu were the kind souls who laid on the beer and hospitality, as we toasted our reusable cups to 18 years of SOURCE with the industry’s key decision makers.

It’s been a crazy journey to 100 issues, and I’ve been lucky (mad) enough to have been involved with the mag since its 56th issue, adopting the role of Editor at issue 70. January’s a rough month on the road away from family; attending trade shows, on snow demos and booze-soaked trips to Lapland, but it’s the biggest time of the year for SOURCE as we connect with out industry’s leading retailers and brands to discover the lifeblood of the industry – next season’s product, while delving deep into the essence of our own brand – our network. Here at SOURCE we pride ourselves on our connectivity to the industry and we were stoked to see the turnout for our 100th issue party.

I reached out to SOURCE’s Founding Editor, Trey Cook to get his take on SOURCE’s 100 issues: “Back in 2001 Clive Ripley, Garry Maidment and I – with the help of Al Gosling from ExtremeTV and the crew at Sport Business – launched Boardsport SOURCE as a way to provide information and insight into the complex business of European boardsports. The support of some of the industry’s most important retailers, suppliers, distributors, athletes and content providers were a testimonial to the value of the publication and their suggestions, advice and criticism motivated us to produce the best publication possible. 100 issues down the line and while most of the names on the masthead have changed, one has remained for all 100 issues: Publisher Clive Ripley. SOURCE is a testament to Clive’s commitment to the European boardsports community for over 20 years and for that we owe him a heartfelt thanks. Here’s to the next 100 issues!”

Below is our gallery from the first two days of networking at the show. Stay tuned for some heavyweight interviews and more images as Publisher Clive Ripley continues to terrorise the walkways of ISPO until the show closes on Wednesday evening.
