Press Release:
Finland expansion: Boardsports and lifestyle specialist Blue Tomato opens new shops in Tampere and Turku

– Austrian company Blue Tomato strengthens its presence in the far north

– Opening in Tampere on 17th and in Turku on 23rd October

International boardsports and lifestyle specialist Blue Tomato (blue-tomato.com) is expanding within Finland. Almost one year after the opening of the first shop in the capital Helsinki, two more locations are now being opened in the northern Scandinavian country. With new shops in Tampere (opening on 17th October) and Turku (opening on 23rd October), the Austrian company continues to establish its presence in Finland. With more than 450,000 products, Blue Tomato is one of the world’s largest online retailers in the snowboard, freeski, skateboard, surf and street style sectors. Blue Tomato already operates more than 50 shops in Germany, Austria, Finland, the Netherlands and Switzerland, seeing in-store retail hugely strengthened in recent years.

“The remarkably rapid expansion in Finland with two more shops signifies a great development for us”, says Tillmann Ruprecht, Director of Sales and Service at Blue Tomato. “We have had many online customers from Finland for a long time, as well as Finnish employees in the company, which means we’ve maintained a close connection to the local scene. Despite the geographical distance, Finland has long been a high priority for us; the country has been a very strong and important market for us since the beginning of our international webshop activity. Now, we want to give our online customers the opportunity to experience our competent advice directly in-store.”

New openings are a positive sign in an extraordinary time
With the new openings in Tampere and Turku, Blue Tomato is also sending out an important signal during this extraordinary time in the midst of the Corona pandemic. “We want to be where our customers are and enable them to communicate directly with our shop teams,” emphasizes Ruprecht. “Of course, we implement all security requirements everywhere to protect our customers and our staff. We adhere to the applicable national and regional requirements of the respective authorities at all locations.”

Omni channel retailer with special service
The website of blue-tomato.com registers over 125,000 visitors every day – and the trend is increasing. The webshop has been available in 14 languages for a long time. You can also order via smartphone, live chat with the international Blue Tomato Customer Service team, or directly in store if the product is not in stock on site. The omni channel retailer also offers an additional service: customers can optionally have their online order delivered free of charge to one of the Blue Tomato shops for pick-up there. If a product does not fit, the order can be exchanged in store.
