SIC Wings S/S 2026 Preview
Retail Buyers Guide: Wings S/S 2026 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: SIC
Interviewee: Casi Rynkowski Global Brand Manager
What are the main trends in Wing construction, materials, and design?
We’re seeing a few key trends shaping the latest wing designs. One significant shift is using multiple fabrics—reinforced materials on the leading edge and canopy to boost durability and performance without adding weight and cost. Booms are also becoming more common, offering a stiffer, more direct feel than handles. Designers are leaning toward versatile wings that can perform well across multiple disciplines, like freeride, wave, and freestyle, so riders don’t need a separate wing for every style. It’s all about durability, control, and adaptability.
What customer profile is driving the most product demand at the moment?
While high-performance riders fuel innovation, SIC recognizes that the real engine for long-term growth lies in building a strong, inclusive foiling community. Creating accessible entry points for newcomers and future enthusiasts is as critical as catering to elite athletes. Let’s be honest — foiling isn’t cheap. Making the sport accessible across a broader range of users is key to its sustained growth, and SIC is committed to supporting that vision.
Which of your 2025 wings have sold best and why?
Our best-selling wing is the Raptor V3, an all-around performer that has resonated strongly with a wide range of riders. It stands out for its exceptional lift and free-flying stability — ideal for those learning to foil, thanks to smooth transitions and excellent low-end lift that helps riders get up on foil quickly and confidently. But make no mistake: while beginner-friendly, the Raptor V3 also delivers high-level performance in racing, downwind, and surf foiling. Its versatility makes it a top choice for riders exploring multiple foiling disciplines. We’re especially excited about the Dragon, our new performance wing launching this June. It’s already received strong preseason demand, and we expect it to be a key player in the 2025 lineup. The Dragon has a medium-to-high aspect ratio and a V-anhedral profile that enhances upwind performance and reduces drag, particularly on smaller sizes. On larger sizes, it improves low-end power and user-friendliness. Its innovative segmented strut design reduces weight while increasing space between the boom and strut for improved handling and maneuverability during freestyle moves. The ergonomic boom delivers excellent rigidity, precise power control, and unrestricted freedom of movement — all of which contribute to its responsive performance. We’ve also prioritized performance without compromising accessibility. The Dragon strategically uses multiple advanced materials, helping us keep costs down.
- ALUULA AERIS X FX86laminated fabric on 75% of the leading edge for ultralight, high-performance, where it matters most.
- EXOTEX 2 Ultra-Rigid Dacronon the strut and wingtips for durability and minimal stretch.
- 3DF Canopy In two weightsto maintain shape and extend the wing’s lifespan.
For convenience, the Dragon has a complete setup, with an installed boom, bag, leash, and pump.
How many wing designs will you offer in s/s 2026, and which do you expect to grow the most?
For 2026, we will offer Raptor V3, an all-around wing, and the Dragon performance wing for speed and freestyle. While our newest wing, the Dragon, may take the spotlight for those looking for performance, we expect the Raptor V3 to continue its solid growth, reaching a variety of enthusiasts due to its versatility.
What materials and construction techniques are you using for your s/s 2026 range?
The Dragon is constructed with multiple advanced materials strategically placed to maximize performance and durability without breaking the bank. Premium ALUULA AERIS X FX86 laminated fabric is strategically placed on three-quarters of the leading edge. This placement delivers ultra-high performance with a lighter and stiffer feel where it’s needed most. The fabric is 30-50% lighter, 3-4 times stronger, and 6 times more tear resistant than traditional materials. Its multi-axis fiber orientation enhances mechanical properties in all directions. Additionally, the fabric reduces the leading-edge diameter by approximately 15%. This results in lower drag, faster speeds, and improved stability. EXOTEX 2 ULTRA-RIGID DACRON is used on the center strut and wing tips, providing excellent tear resistance, durability, and very little stretch at a more accessible price. It also allows for flexibility in the wing tips, improving ease of power management. 3DF canopy uses in two optimized fabric weights creates a strong skeleton along stress lines, reinforce the trailing edge, and maintain the wing’s profile over time for increased longevity.
How will you support retailers in selling your s/s 2026 wings?
Starting in 2025 and continuing into 2026, SIC is rolling out a new educational video series called SIC Talk Stories, designed to empower both retailers and consumers with the knowledge they need to make informed purchasing decisions. This content series breaks down complex foiling concepts and terminology, helping make the gear selection process easier for new and progressing riders. It’s a valuable tool for retailers to use in-store or online to guide customers through their buying journey. These videos are part of a broader initiative to make foiling more accessible and to provide retailers with high-quality, easy-to-digest content that builds confidence, drives engagement, and ultimately supports sales. We’re also launching SIC Foil Pro Centers worldwide in partnership with top SIC foil dealers. The goal is to elevate our dealers as trusted experts, drive in-store and on-water engagement, and play a key role in growing our global community of foiling enthusiasts, watermen, and waterwomen.
