Retail Buyers Guide: Great Outdoors S/S 2026 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: Heimplanet
Interviewee: Stefan Clauss, Co-Founder
How is your brand responding to the increasing demand for sustainability and ethical production?
Sustainability has been part of Heimplanet’s DNA from the beginning. We design products with longevity in mind – choosing durable, recyclable fabrics and minimizing unnecessary parts so that our gear lasts longer and consumes fewer resources over its life cycle. We’ve transitioned to using more recycled materials as well as C0 WR finishes. We constantly seek better ways to reduce waste, improve repairability, and create circular solutions for our tents and packs. All Heimplanet gear is covered by a lifetime warranty to ensure a product stays in motion for as long as possible. When no longer in use, we offer to take items back into our refurbishing program – the Re-Store.
How are the latest U.S. tariffs and customs regulations affecting your business strategy and supply chain?
Tariffs and changing customs policies create uncertainty in planning, especially for smaller, independent brands like ours. We’ve had to rethink parts of our sourcing and logistics strategy. Despite the challenges, Heimplanet is doubling down on the US customer base, offering within the US shipping for the first time and an improved customer experience on our website with USD prices and faster shipping times.
About the Brand:
What is your brand’s core mission or philosophy, and how does it influence your product development?
At Heimplanet, our mission is to inspire people to explore their surroundings with curiosity – whether that’s a new continent, a city block, or their own backyard. We believe exploration is about perspective, not just distance. This philosophy drives us to design gear that is reliable, durable, and easy to use, helping people spend less time setting up and more time experiencing the moment. From our inflatable tent system to modular backpacks, every product is created with simplicity, functionality, and longevity at its core.
How has your brand evolved in the outdoor market over the last few years?
A big step in our evolution has been transferring the environmentally friendly principles we’ve applied in our bag line into our tents as well. This has meant using recycled materials and C0 DWR (durable water repellent) finishes – choices that were not simple, because they can easily compromise performance. It took significant development work, but we found solutions that maintain the reliability our customers expect while moving us closer to a more sustainable product range. Today, we’re proud to say our tents reflect both our design philosophy and our responsibility toward the planet.
Who is your target customer today, and how has that profile changed over time?
Our customer base remains very diverse, ranging from beginners to seasoned professionals. Beginners are drawn to the convenience and simplicity of our shelters – being able to set up a tent in minutes without frustration is a huge benefit when they’re just starting out. On the other hand, professionals value the reliable safety and performance of our tents, knowing they can count on them in demanding conditions. Over the years, our audience has expanded beyond core outdoor enthusiasts to include creative professionals and urban explorers who appreciate quality, design, and sustainability. What unites all of them is a mindset: they value products that help them travel freely, live more intentionally, and focus on the experience rather than the hassle.
Which items should every nature lover take with him on the next outdoor-adventure?
We’d say it comes down to versatile essentials that make your time outside easier, safer, and more enjoyable. A Heimplanet tent is the obvious starting point – our inflatable shelters like The Cave or Kirra are quick to pitch and built to handle a wide range of conditions. Pair that with one of our modular backpacks, like the Transit Line or Motion Series, which adapt seamlessly between outdoor exploration and everyday travel. For organization, our Packing Cubes or Dopp Kit keep gear tidy on the go, and our Neck Pouch ensures essentials are always within reach. These items together create a setup that’s durable and reliable, and ready for any kind of adventure.
Take us through your brand line in detail for SS26
For SS26 we’re focusing on two main directions: upgrading and refining our existing lineup, and introducing fresh seasonal details. A big part of this season is applying more of the environmentally friendly principles we’ve already established in our bags to a wider range of products – integrating recycled fabrics, C0 DWR finishes, and other low-impact materials without sacrificing performance. This approach allows us to make meaningful improvements across our shelters. At the same time, we’re exploring new color combinations that give our products a fresh aesthetic while maintaining the timeless, understated design language Heimplanet is known for. The result is a collection that feels both familiar and new – trusted designs elevated with better sustainability and updated seasonal expressions. Our three key tents Cloudbreak Classic, Cloudbreak Shelter, and Mavericks – are all larger tents and somewhat flagship models, designed for overlanding and expeditions. They showcase our commitment to high-performance gear, built to withstand the harshest conditions. The advanced technology in these tents sets the standard and trickles down into every shelter we make, ensuring reliability across our entire range.
Key Products:
Cloudbreak Classic V2:
Cloudbreak is a reliable, flexible shelter for groups and families, designed for safety and freedom of movement while overland camping. The updated version features more durable fabrics and hardware, with a recycled Poly SIL/PU flysheet and C0 coating for sustainability. A new two-layer door adds mosquito-proof ventilation, sunlight, and full waterproof protection for enhanced comfort.

Cloudbreak Shelter:
Heimplanet tents are built for extreme conditions, but Cloudbreak Shelter is designed around community. Instead of separate rooms, it offers one open, multifunctional space you can adapt freely. Three large entrances double as covered vestibules, transforming the shelter into an airy pavilion where air flows, shade is created, and people naturally come together to share conversations and experiences.

The Mavericks 2025/26 update makes the tent stronger, more comfortable, and more weather-ready. The flysheet and attachment points are more durable, while ventilation has been improved for better airflow. A new centre support prevents water buildup on the roof, and refined upper vents and zippers keep the interior dry. The result is a more reliable, user-friendly shelter for all conditions.
