Yes, the order levels for SS25 were positive, particularly in core lines, with retro-style aesthetics combined with modern performance features performing best. Sustainable fabrics and technical finishes were key drivers. However, we noted a growing demand for mid-price options (€60–90), highlighting an opportunity to fine-tune our range for SS26.

Do you carry over staple pieces over the years?
We carry staple pieces — especially vintage-cut and hybrid performance board shorts — to reinforce brand identity and ensure consistent sell-through. These models are subtly updated in colors or minor details to maintain freshness without losing brand recognition.

Prices vary from €30 to €150+: where do you position your brand on that spectrum?
We are positioned firmly between €70 and €110. This range represents perceived quality, durability, and a lifestyle-driven premium positioning that remains accessible, crucial in the post-2025 European market, where value and sustainability have become central to purchasing decisions.

What are the main design trends of SS26 for (surfing) boardshorts? (cuts, lengths, special features, closing systems…)
Based on trend forecasting and market analysis:

Cuts: Mid-waist, 16–18 inch outseams (short/moderate lengths), with slightly more relaxed fits rather than slim cuts.
Special Features: Eco-friendly fabrics (recycled polyester, Seaqual, cotton blends), lightweight 4-way stretch, chlorine and salt resistance, ultra-fast drying finishes.
Closing Systems: A mix of traditional lace-up/velcro and hybrid minimalist zip-fly systems for enhanced comfort and longevity.

Prints: Minimal tropicals, geometric graphics, refined tie-dye reinterpretations, and 70s psychedelic influences reimagined for a contemporary aesthetic.

Which fabrics did you implement for the SS26 collections?
For SS26, we have implemented:

High-stretch recycled polyester (Seaqual Initiative)
Organic cotton blends with stretch for a natural feel
Ultra-light ripstop fabrics for technical boardshorts
Antimicrobial and odour-resistant fabrics for hybrid boardshorts and walkshorts.

How are you expecting Trump’s tariffs to impact the European Boardshort market?
As our boardshorts are locally manufactured in Portugal using European-sourced materials, we foresee no direct impact from tariffs. Instead, we expect to strengthen our competitive edge through ethical, sustainable, and resilient production. However, overall market dynamics might shift, with brands heavily dependent on Asian manufacturing likely facing cost increases and operational delays. This environment could further strengthen brands like ours, where local production, ethical standards, and sustainable practices serve as key differentiators and drivers of consumer trust in the European market.
