In our previous SUP Buyer’s Guide, most indicators showed the 2022-23 overstocks were clearing out. Did 2024 end on the same note with a better demand vs. offer balance?
The SUP market stabilized through 2024, with excess inventory from 2022-23 largely cleared. Demand for performance hardboards and premium inflatable models has strengthened, particularly in racing, touring, and specialized disciplines. Entry-level iSUPs remain highly competitive, but experienced paddlers and rental operators continue seeking durable, well-designed alternatives to generic mass-market options.

Cheaper entry-level iSUPs represent the bulk of the sales but the segment is flooded with brands and products, whereas more advanced SUPs offer better margins. How do you intend to position your brand on the market spectrum in 2025?
NSP has a strong position in performance and premium recreational SUPs, but we recognize the importance of every part of the market. While entry level inflatables drive volume, we focus on delivering quality across all segments. Our hardboards are proven in racing, touring, and all around paddling, and our inflatables are designed for paddlers who want reliability, durability, and great performance whether they are new to the sport or looking for a long term investment for paddlers who demand quality and value that are built to last or just an entry-level board.

Which are your key inflatable models for 2025 in the Allround/Cruising segments?
For 2025, NSP’s inflatable lineup focuses on premium cruising and touring designs with reliable construction:

We continue to push high performance inflatable raceboards for paddlers seeking speed and competition ready performance. There has been a relative status quo the past 3 years regarding new technologies & materials? Do you have some exciting news to share for the year coming or did the SUP products reach a maturity in designs/constructions?
NSP has never settled for the status quo. While SUP construction has matured, we continue to push the boundaries of molded technology and Pro Carbon laminations, refining the balance between strength, weight, and durability. Our advancements in composite layups and precision molding techniques are setting new standards in consistency and performance. SUP design is always evolving, and at NSP, we’re committed to innovation, whether it’s enhancing responsiveness in high-performance models or increasing durability for everyday paddlers. (hardboard brands only) The opportunity for hardboard sales seem to be primarily in the school/rental area or in the high-end performance models. How do you cater to this demand?
While school and rental models remain a key part of the hardboard market, we see demand extending well beyond these segments. NSP designs boards that cater to every level of paddler, from first board to first place, with a focus on lasting value and performance. Our rental and school boards set the standard for durability and ease of use, ensuring a long lifespan and a great experience for newcomers. Everyday paddlers benefit from our touring and all-round models, which balance stability, efficiency, and lightweight performance offering serious bang for your buck. At the high performance level, our race and surf SUPs continue to push boundaries with cutting edge composites and precise shapes, delivering a level of quality and longevity, built to last that NSP is known for and found themselves as the benchmark within the industry.
