Retail Buyers Guide:  Snow Helmets F/W 2026/27 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand:  Protec
Interviewee: Yana Farrally-Plourde – VP Product & Marketing

Which products sold best in the winter 2024/25 and why?
Our Classic Snow helmet was the best seller. Reasons for this were price, availability and endless colour options.

Which of your 2025/2026 protection do you expect to perform best at retail and why?
The best selling product for 25/26 will be the Low Pro Snow. This is our newest offering in the Protec helmet line that we’re now also offering to Snow. It is a true skate style snowboard helmet. This helmet is for a rider who wants a helmet that fits and looks like something they’d wear skating but also wants to be warm and safe. It comes with a 17-piece fit kit that allows people to really dial in the comfort so that it fits perfect every time. We have 4 base colors, but we also brought across our Santa Cruz colab that has been killing it in the Skate version. It’s an iconic brand that a lot of customers don’t get a chance to rep on the mountain, so we’re excited to give people the opportunity to rep another one of their favourite skate brands on the mountain.

Are there any observable trends in the practice of snowboarding that impact product demand and development?
Nostalgia. The brands we all grew up with in the 90’s and early 00’s are coming back. Protec’s slogan is OG Since ’73. Protec is the original and it making a major return to the slopes with classic shapes and designs while incorporating modern design and safety.

Which product do you expect to grow the most of your 2026/2027 collection?
For 26/27 we’re re-launching the Full Cut Snow.  The Full Cut is the classic Protec shape that’s been iconic since the 70s, and is highly requested in the snow market. We will also be launching what is called the A2 w/ MIPS.  This is a modern design, in-mold helmet with MIPS.  This helmet will tie together modern helmet design and construction with classic branding to allow riders who are looking to maximize their helmet tech to remain in a classic brand that is true to their roots in action sports culture.

What are the design and material highlights of your 2026/27 collection?
Classic skate-style profiles optimized for snow with plush comfy liners and earflaps and integtrated goggle straps. We’ve essentially taken what’s made Protec the gold-standard in Skate Helmets for the past 50 years, and translated that into something that will be equally as popular on the mountain.

How are you implementing sustainability in your products and production processes?
We use recycled or recyclable packaging materials wherever possible, and work to minimize carton shipping sizes for more efficient transport.

What are your marketing stories for 2026/27?
Pro-Tec is the original brand for snowboarders who want that classic skateboard style. We’re trying to replicate what has made Protec the go-to choice for Skateboarders for over 50 years into our Snow program. We know that riders are usually way more excited to pick out their board/boots/bindings than they are their helmet, so we try and pull that excitement over into our helmets too.

How are you supporting retailers to sell this category?
We have some great new POP displays that sets our brand aside from pretty much everything else on the helmet-wall, along with our globally aligned marketing incentives, with tonnes of brand and product assets, along with a team of riders who embody the Protec vibe.
