TSG WATER HELMETS 2025 PREVIEW
Retail Buyers Guide: Water Helmets 2025 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: TSG
Interviewee: Marcel Korner, CEO
Do you foresee a similar growth for water helmets as seen in snow and cycling?
Yes, we believe the shift is already underway. Just as helmets have become standard in snow and cycling, water sports are seeing a rising demand for safety gear – especially in disciplines like wakeboarding, kiteboarding, and e-foiling. Increased awareness and the development of versatile, stylish helmets are accelerating this trend.
How are you targeting youth vs. older generations when it comes to helmet adoption?
Younger riders already view helmets as essential – so we focus on fresh design, colorways, and versatility across sports. For older, style-conscious riders, we highlight comfort, low-profile aesthetics, and the added value of all-in-one helmets like our TSG All Terrain, which transitions from water to snow to land with ease.
What about surfing and foiling as growth areas for helmet use?
Foiling, particularly e-foiling, is a fast-growing sector where head protection is becoming a must. The risks are real, and riders are more open to helmets when they’re lightweight, breathable, and look good. Traditional surfers may be slower to adopt, but innovation in comfort and style is helping bridge the gap.
What’s your position on hardshell vs. soft helmet designs for surfing?
We believe hardshell helmets offer the best protection – especially in high-speed, high-impact environments like wakeparks or kite spots. Soft helmets may provide minimal padding, but for serious protection and multi-sport functionality, hardshells are the superior choice. All our models are built to certified safety standards.
Please take us through your water helmet range.
TSG All Terrain Helmet: Our most versatile model, designed for multi-element use. It comes with specific accessories for water, winter, and urban sports, and is certified for all.
Dawn Wakeboard Helmet: A core water sports helmet with retro full-cut styling. Lightweight, protective, and made for high-performance wake and kite sessions.
Do you implement technologies from other boardsports in your water helmets?
Absolutely. We apply TSG’s proven construction methods and materials – like ABS hardshells and snug fit systems – from our skate, bike and snow ranges. These are then tailored for the water, with features like drainage channels, quick-dry linings, and removable earpads for seasonal versatility.
What’s your marketing pitch to retailers?
Water sports are booming, and with growing awareness around safety, helmets are an essential category. TSG offers a compact yet powerful range with certified protection, multi-sport versatility, and smart retail value. Helmets like the TSG All Terrain reduce inventory while increasing sell-through – ideal for progressive, safety-conscious customers.
