Yes, in 2026, our Dry Stop Parka has become a year-round investment, while the traditional terry cloth poncho remains an impulsive seasonal purchase. Our sales show that customers prioritise protection and versatility. It is no longer just a tool for changing clothes, it is a technical parka that replaces the classic parka, offering much better value for money for the consumer.

The Robes are no longer a core piece of apparel for watersports, worn by very different consumer profiles. How do you handle the core vs mainstream positioning as a brand?
At Mellow Sea, we don’t see any conflict between ‘core’ and ‘mainstream’ because inclusion is in our DNA. Whether you’re a lifeguard, aquawalker, swimrunner, surfer, etc., the need for warmth and dryness is universal. We manage this positioning by maintaining high-level technical specifications (innovation with removable lining, waterproofing, breathability) that satisfy professionals, while retaining a sleek and timeless aesthetic that is equally suited to the beach and the city.

Are Robes and Ponchos a gendered garment? More women seem to adopt the style than lads. Plus they are a big hit among kids, right?
It’s true that women currently represent the majority of our customer base for the Dry Stop Parka, appreciating the comfort and privacy it provides, but our male customers are increasingly adopting it. Our models remain strictly unisex. As for children, you are absolutely right. To meet this growing demand, we are officially launching a children’s version of our Dry Stop Parka in 2026, allowing young people to enjoy the same protection as their parents.

What’s new in your ‘26 Surf Poncho collection? (materials, silhouettes, colors/prints/patterns)
In addition to our Dry Stop poncho and ponchos from our upcycled range, we also have a range made from 100% organic cotton. We have two different colours: navy blue (our best seller) and our new color blue with floral patterns. It’s true that this poncho is our must-have item; it was one of the first ponchos we designed. Its strength lies in its incomparable softness. Of course, it’s roomy enough to change underneath. It’s our surfing customers’ favourite poncho after the dry stop poncho.

What’s new in your ‘26 Changing Robes collection? (materials, silhouettes, colors/prints/patterns)
For the ‘26 Changing Robe Collection’, we remain faithful to our Dry Stop Poncho, which appeals to many ocean lovers thanks to its understated design in black with a premium effect created by our beautiful embroidery. We are retaining and further enhancing the technical aspect through the materials used. Indeed, we are continuing with our innovation of a fleece interior covered with a removable waterproof lining, which can be easily removed and replaced depending on whether you are wet or not.

Which pieces of advice do you have for retailers? Keep it core with dedicated watersports products or mix it up (core and casual)?
