Moving on from his 10-year stint at Patagonia, Josh Nielsen has been appointed as the new Marketing Director of Jones Snowboards. During his time at Patagonia, Josh worked a variety of marketing positions, working his way up in seniority, from Grassroots Marketer to Senior Director of Brand Global Marketing.
Founded in 2009 by professional snowboarder and environmentalist Jeremy Jones, Jones Snowboards is a winter apparel, technical outerwear, backcountry gear and snowboard brand, whose newest outerwear line features a range of garments that balance unmatched performance and durability with industry-leading sustainable manufacturing and material standards.
Combining his time at Patagonia with his role as Director of Production at Teton Gravity Research, Nielsen will bring over 20 years’ experience to his new position. As Marketing Director, he will oversee the marketing of the new outerwear line, as well as Jones’ well-established hardgoods line.
On his appointment, Nielsen commented:
“I have always held Jones in the highest regard for its commitment to sustainability and its service to the snowboard community. It’s an honour to be joining a nimble and focused brand with a proven track record for taking on big challenges.
Jones’ approach to developing innovative hardgoods with a focus on environmental footprint reduction has been impressive. It’s great to see those same design values at work as the company expands into technical outerwear.”
Company founder Jeremy Jones is looking forward to working with Nielsen, ““Josh and I go back to the early days of TGR and have spent a lot of time in the mountains and the editing bay together,” said Jones. “I’ve had a front row seat watching the evolution of his career and have always wanted to work with him again. He is the perfect person to help Jones develop a more globally unified and integrated marketing message that embodies the Jones’ ethos of living responsibly and giving back to our community.”
