Amplid Snowboards F/W 2026/27 Preview
Retail Buyers Guide: Snowboards F/W 2026/27 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand: Amplid
Interviewee: Peter Bauer / Founder
How would you describe the 2024/25 snowboard season in terms of market performance and consumer demand?
The last season has been very good for Amplid, with a growth of 22%. It seems that the splitboard market is slowly recovering from the post-covid phenomena, and also the demand for solid boards has been really good.
What major trends are shaping the snowboard market (pricing, consumer preferences, rider demographics, retail shifts)?
While for Amplid the entry level range is stagnant, mid and high price boards have experienced a higher demand than expected. It seems that well situated customers are less affected by the global financial situation.
From changing consumer behavior to tariffs and supply chain stress, what’s been the biggest challenge for your brand recently?
On the production side – Amplid is manufacturing all boards in Taiwan – there was no impact on higher tariffs on raw materials. Now getting boards into the US is a real hassle. When shipping into the US on a whole sale price level, the pain can somehow be absorbed. When shipping boards from Germany into the US to online customers, it’s almost unaffordable.
BRAND FOCUS
What is your brand’s core mission or philosophy, and how does it influence snowboard design and development?
Amplid’s DNA is still focused on RnD. While other brands invest most of their money in marketing, Amplid is investing a lot into testing new materials and building new moulds. We have many new geometries coming out every season.
How has your brand’s role in the snowboard market evolved in recent years?
With the 2018 Milligram Split being the lightest splitboard on the market, we had a real break through on the backcountry market, and both consumers and shops suddenly had an eye on our brand. Now with the Singular being one of the most popular All-Mountain boards the eye has been directed onto Amplid also for solid boards.
Who is your target rider for the 26/27 season, and how has this profile changed compared to the past?
On the skill level we are target the advanced to expert riders, on the price level we are positioned between mid and high end.
Which product ranges or categories do you expect to drive the most growth in 26/27?
All mountain boards like the Singular and the quiver boards like our Centrifugal Collection with lots of tech like Antiphase Vibration Dampening will have a very high demand. Obviously the Milligram on the split side as well.
SNOWBOARD SPECIFIC
What trends or developments in construction, shapes, and innovation are guiding your 26/27 snowboard range?
We are working with a new honey material made in Germany which we call “Hollow Tech” which shaves off weight in tip and tail and between the bindings. And we introduced out Zero90 Carbon, to provide an amicable longitudinal flex of a glass board, combined with the 90° rigidity of a carbon board, for better edge control.
