What new technical innovations are you introducing for 26/27 (buckles, straps, highbacks, baseplates, heel cups, etc.)?
Arbor is introducing an all-new binding called the Utility built on the X-Base III baseplate. This latest evolution of the X-Base focuses on optimizing power transmission to the corners of the binding for enhanced edge engagement and board response. The design also reduces high-frequency chatter through a new foamed TPE compound integrated into the dampening pods, which extends through all four corners of the X-Base for improved stability and ride comfort.
Are you exploring new materials, construction techniques, or performance features in your bindings?
We’ve introduced a new foamed TPE compound into the Dampening Pods of the X-Base III baseplate, featured on the new Utility binding. This material delivers the ideal balance of dampening and energy return through the arms of the X-Base, enhancing both comfort and responsiveness.
Do you have any new design directions, collaborations, or special editions for the 26/27 line?
The new Utility Binding has quickly become a team favorite, earning its place as a go-to choice for riders across the Arbor lineup. This is reflected in the signature colorways designed in collaboration with Jared Elston, Red Gerard, Marie-France Roy, and Estelle Pensiero — each bringing their unique style and personality to their own version of the Utility.
Key Products:
Focused on function and inspired by high-end, lightweight mountaineering hardware, the all-new Utility binding is a modern, reductive take on the traditional two-strap design. With clean lines and purposeful construction, it’s built to ride it all with refined efficiency and engineered focus. Anchored by the next-gen X-Base 3 platform, the Utility is designed for riders who want gear they don’t have to think about. It delivers a unique balance of strength, response, and simplicity—where every component has a job, and every detail has a reason. The Utility binding is here to work.
