Ripcurl Wetsuits F/W 2026 Preview

Retail Buyers Guide:  Wetsuits F/W 2026 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand:  Ripcurl
Interviewee: Wetsuit Europe Product Manager

After a few seasons of (mostly) carryovers, fresh pieces were introduced in FW25. How did things pan out saleswise?
Retailers responded positively during the FW25 sell-in phase, the early sell-out and repeat figures confirm that this positive trend is continuing.

The Fall/Winter collection is where innovations and new models come to life: which are the key additions to your range for FW26?
FW25 marked a new chapter for Rip Curl, refreshing both the Ultimate and Core segments that represent 70% of the range. For Fall/Winter 2026, we complete the full range revamp with the Classic segment, introducing a reboot of the “Omega” on top of the new entry-level style ‘TRAD’ released on Spring 26. Both models feature upgraded specifications compared to previous versions while maintaining the same price point. We are also introducing a new Stephanie Gilmore Dawn Patrol keyshape on the women Core segment.

Most wetsuit brands contained the rise of prices so far. Will FW26 remain stable regarding pricepoints?
Yes, FW26 will remain stable in terms of price points. Despite the upgrades and range revamp, we have ensured that the new models deliver added value without increasing prices.

Do you notice a discrepancy between the sales ratio of premium wetsuits and entry-level ones?
Our sales ratio between premium and entry-level wetsuits has remained relatively stable over the years. Any fluctuations seem less related to changes in consumer purchasing behavior and more to the evolving appeal and performance of the products themselves.

The shift to non-petroleum based foam is close to the take over. Are you relying on established suppliers or developing your own proprietary technologies, as seen among some brands for a couple years?
We maintain a long-term partnership with Sheico, our trusted supplier of premium fabrics. Since Fall 2025, our best-selling styles, E-Bomb and Dawn Patrol, have featured 100% neoprene-free foams. These foams incorporate Sheico’s ‘Ocena 74% natural rubber content’, delivering the same stretch, warmth, and durability as our previous petroleum-based foams. While higher natural rubber compositions exist, they currently do not meet our strict quality standards. For now, Flashbomb—our high-performance warmth suit—continues to use neoprene-based foam until alternatives can match our expectations without compromising performance. Entry-level styles also remain neoprene-based for cost considerations. This remains a rapidly evolving area, and we are continuously tracking progress.

Any innovations in the linings for 2026?
No major updates on lining on Fall26.

Do you notice any difference in the consumer habits of women? (wetsuit thickness, entry/closure systems, colors…)
Aesthetic remains the number one factor for women, and because it’s highly subjective, it can be challenging to perfect. Performance is a close second. We haven’t observed any significant shifts in preferences regarding thickness or entry systems.

Please briefly mention the repair/recycle programs offered by your brand.
Our Repair Program is one of Rip Curl’s key pillars, backed by the best warranty on the market—one year on all products and three years on stitches. Since last year, the program has been fully digitalized, offering customers complete transparency throughout the process, including transport, repair status, costing, and expedition. Transport is free of charge, and we repair all brands—not just Rip Curl products—at similar costs. Our Hossegor repair workshop was recently recognized by Ecologic for its contribution to extending product lifecycles, with 3,800 wetsuits repaired last year. The workshop is also certified under the ‘Bonus Répar’ scheme, allowing French customers to receive a €10 discount on any repair over €40 (via e-reparation.eco). On recycling program side, we recycled 9 tons of wetsuits last year. Customers can drop off wetsuits in our flagship stores and receive a 15% discount on the purchase of a new steamer. In parallel, we are developing products made from Renoprene : a fabric created from recycled wetsuits in collaboration with a supplier. So far, we’ve produced change mats for our flagship stores, and exciting new products for wholesale are planned for Spring 2027

How are you helping retailers to sell more suits?
We focus on nailing the fundamentals: providing retailers with comprehensive sales clinics through our Salesforce team, delivering high-quality marketing assets, ensure reliable and timely deliveries, and backing everything with the best warranty on the market. This combination creates a strong package that helps retailers sell more suits confidently.
