Saint Jacques Wetsuits F/W 2026 Preview

Retail Buyers Guide:  Wetsuits F/W 2026 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Brand:  Saint Jacques
Interviewee: Stan Bresson - President

After a few seasons of (mostly) carryovers, fresh pieces were introduced in FW25. How did things pan out saleswise?
At Saint Jacques, the concept of a non-seasonal wetsuit range has always been part of our philosophy. While many majors still overproduce and feed endless discount cycles, we prefer to keep our range tight, durable, and meaningful. We introduce real innovations, not marketing gimmicks, and this approach keeps both our image and our margins intact. For us, the equation is simple: either you stay unique, or you drown in the crowd.

Price points: stable or increasing?
Winter wetsuits are where the real innovation happens. For FW26, we’re refining our Yamamoto limestone full suits with updated patterns and comfort improvements. The market is quite mature, so the real difference comes from fit, details, and finishing rather than over-marketed “new tech”. Regarding pricing, we see clear psychological thresholds from consumers: too high and they hesitate; too low, and it simply becomes impossible to produce a technical wetsuit while maintaining a fair margin and a sustainable business. We aim to maintain our price levels, ensuring real value for riders and healthy economics for our brand and partners.

Do you notice a discrepancy between the sales ratio of premium wetsuits and entry-level ones?
We position ourselves on the mid to high-end market, distinct from the school or rental segment, which follows its own logic and constraints. Our focus is on individual riders looking for performance, durability, and comfort, which defines our audience naturally.

The shift to non-petroleum based foam is close to the take-over. Are you relying on established suppliers or developing your own proprietary technologies?
We rely on specialized and proven suppliers such as Yamamoto, whose limestone foam remains one of the most efficient and eco-responsible materials available. At the same time, we are continuously working on new entry systems and construction methods to improve comfort and ease of use. We believe in using the best existing technologies, and developing what truly adds value to the rider’s experience.

Any innovations in the linings for 2026?
Lining is a delicate subject — and we like to approach it with nuance. Some small, highly technical brands — particularly Japanese custom makers — choose not to use quick-dry or heavy fleece linings, which often absorb water and slow drying. At Saint Jacques, we share a similar vision: seeking the right balance with targeted brushed areas where warmth is needed, and lighter, faster-drying panels elsewhere for comfort and durability.

Women’s wetsuit habits (thickness, entries, colors…)
We’ve developed a refined women’s range built around our Lisa Yamamoto in 3/2 and 5/3. Easy to put on thanks to the chest zip, comfortable, and thermally efficient. The women’s market remains complex, driven by promotions and color trends, but our philosophy stays the same: comfort, performance, and timeless elegance.

Repair / recycle programs
We focus on upcycling, to avoid consuming more energy than necessary through traditional recycling. Our local partners transform used wetsuits into unique second-life objects, such as our recycled neoprene laptop sleeves and accessories. Each piece tells a story and extends the product’s lifespan in a meaningful way. Example: Recycled neoprene sleeve

How are you helping retailers to sell more suits?
As a small independent brand, we can’t compete with the overwhelming communication budgets of the majors. Instead, we focus on offering unique, technical, and elegant wetsuits that stand out — and that are never found in mass distribution. Stable pricing is a key part of our relationship with shops: it builds trust and long-term value. We support our retailers with technical briefs, POS materials (stickers, flags), ambassador collaborations, and shared social media storytelling.
