Brand:  L1
Interviewee: Bob Plumb Global Marketing Manager

In 2 sentences – how was the men’s snow outerwear market in 2025/26?
The 2025/26 men’s outerwear market tightened around two clear lanes: premium technical shells and accessible price-point gear that still delivered style. Riders gravitated toward standout signature pieces and prints—unique stories that separated real snowboard brands from generic outdoor offerings.

What are the main trends you take your inspiration from for 2026/27?
For 26/27 we’re leaning into rider-led designs, clean utility, and fabric textures influenced by 90s, technical materials and workwear. We’re balancing high-end signature pieces like Jeremy Jones Axial Pro with approachable, style-forward options like the Chroma line, that including new artist collab prints.

What new jacket fits and pant silhouettes are coming out in 2026/27?
We’re evolving our loose-fit silhouettes across the line, giving signature pieces like the Axial pro and the Rankin a more intentional shaping and better movement. On the price-point side, the Chroma line introduces a 10K/10K option for both men and women, featuring new artist-collab prints that give shops a strong storytelling piece at an accessible tier.

Tell us about colors and prints:
26/27 expands our print offering with standout pieces like Eero Ettala’s signature jungle print in the Rankin Collection and Jeremy Jones snow-field Print in the Axial Pro both driven by rider personality and team direction. The Chroma line introduces artist collaboration with Dominik Wagner and Fabian Fuchs that bring fresh graphic energy, while the broader palette blends military greens, deep browns, washed neutrals, soft pastels, and always-reliable black to create a balanced, wearable offering across the line

Any *NEW* technical stories with regards to fabrics and materials?
Our headline innovation is Nova-X Pro™, a next-generation 3-layer shell with 4-way mechanical stretch and a bamboo charcoal membrane for breathability, thermoregulation, and odor control. We’re also introducing elevated durability and mobility fabrics such as FlexShell, DuraDobby, ForgedWeave, RipGuard and Coterra. All insulated styles are built with NovaLoft, our high-performance, 100% recycled insulation.

How are you addressing sustainability topics, not only in production of your products (materials, transportation, packaging) but also their after-life / repurposing?
We build outerwear with a purpose. For us, sustainability isn’t a trend it’s a responsibility. From the fabrics we choose to the way we manufacture, we focus on creating high-quality, long-lasting gear that minimizes waste and performs season after season. By manufacturing to order, we avoid overproduction, prevent unnecessary waste, and eliminate the need for heavy mid-winter discounting, keeping products out of landfills and preserving their value. We were one of the first outerwear brands to transition to PFC-free DWR and continue integrating recycled materials throughout the line, including 100% recycled polyester insulation. Our approach blends performance, durability, and responsibility so every piece is built to last and stay in circulation—not end up as waste.

Any trends that your brand is moving away from?
We’re moving away from overbuilt styling and unnecessary tech features that don’t serve snowboarders on snow. The focus is clean design, durable materials, and identity-driven pieces—from premium performance shells to expressive prints like Eero’s jungle pattern and the new Chroma artist collabs.

What are your big marketing campaigns for 2026/27?
Our lead message is Defend the Culture celebrating riders, local shops, and the communities that shape snowboarding. We’re anchoring the season around Axial Pro, the Rankin Collection, and the Chroma line with new artist-collab prints, backed by rider-driven content and team projects across the entire collection.

Key Products:

Jeremy Jones Axial Pro:
“ Having a signature outerwear kit shows that L1 truly backs snowboarding’s heritage and that support is everything. The atmospheric colorway feels galactic, and the fit is spot-on after years of tweaking and listening to rider feedback. The hive icon represents the grind to keep snowboarding in our lives forever and the community L1 has built in support of the culture.”

Eero Ettala Rankin Collection:
“I’m extremely honored to have my own signature jacket & pant with L1. The Rankin kit has been my favorite in the collection and I’m hyped to have my own colorway on it now. The fit & feel was already perfect and now the new camo print takes the looks to the next level. We even added a little heritage EE logo from my early pro model boards for some nostalgia.”

Dominik Wagner X FFF Chroma Collection:
Simplicity is key that’s what my signature gear is all about. The Chroma Collection is everything I’ve ever wanted from L1: clean, perfectly fitting, and free from gimmicks or unnecessary features. Collaborating with Fabian Fuchs made this project even more special, his artwork is subtly placed exactly where it feels right, adding just the right amount of personality. And honestly who doesn’t love an all-black outerwear combo? The more detail, opinion, description & comment you give us, the more we can feature you.
