Hike Bike Paddle Challenge, Youth Adventure Trust

Hike, Bike & Paddle Around The Lake District For Youth Adventure Trust Team Building Event

The children’s charity Youth Adventure Trust are hosting the ‘Hike Bike Paddle Challenge’ for outdoor and sports companies, businesses and organisations to meet up with colleagues and do some team building in the Lake District, all whilst raising money for the charity.

Press Release:
The mountains are calling!

Are you ready to shake off the lockdown ‘cabin fever’? What better way than spending a day climbing up, biking round and paddling by a mountain? On Thursday 16th September 2021 retailers, brands, companies and organisations from the sports and outdoor sector are swapping the four walls of their offices for the stunning mountain vistas of the Lake District. 20 intrepid teams will take on the Hike Bike Paddle challenge, sponsored by Bullitt Group, pioneers of rugged mobile phones designed for extreme conditions and the hard knocks of everyday life.

Home working, limited travel opportunities and the challenges of lockdown will become a distant memory as colleagues meet in person, possibly for the first time since last March, to take on the ultimate team challenge. Teams of up to six people will start as they mean to go on by conquering Helvellyn at first light, one of England’s highest mountains. Hiking boots will be swapped for helmets and wheels as they complete an off and on road bike loop before getting wet in the final leg for a giant stand up paddle board race. Teams have the choice of completing the whole challenge together or doing it as a relay.

The whole sector is really embracing the chance to get back outside with their colleagues in a Covid-safe way. Companies entering teams include O’Neill, Spinlock, Bradshaw Taylor, Coleman, Yeti, Rohan, Ellis Brigham and Brandwave.  Dan Macaulay, MD and Founder of Brandwave Marketing describes it as “one of the best events I’ve ever taken part in. Great networking, team bonding, content AND all for a great cause!”

Andrew Denton, Chief Executive of the Outdoor Industries Association says: “As we all start to move out of LockDown and re-engage with the great outdoors, and each other, Hike Bike Paddle is a perfect opportunity for people working in the outdoor sector to get away from their Home Working and spend some time in the mountains to create an outdoor legacy for those who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to benefit from the outdoors.”

Mark Davey, CEO of the Youth Adventure Trust says: “After a year of people being more isolated from their colleagues than ever before, this is an opportunity for companies in the outdoors and sports sectors to actually get their employees outside and bring teams together again in a Covid-safe way. It’s also a chance to remind people of the importance of getting outdoors for better mental health and wellbeing, network with others in the sector and position your brand as one which genuinely believes in the ‘power of the outdoors’.

Teams will be fundraising for children’s charity Youth Adventure Trust, which uses outdoor adventure to help vulnerable young people build resilience, develop confidence and learn the skills they need to face the challenges in their lives. Thanks to event sponsorship by Bullitt Group, all of the funds the teams raise will be channelled towards enabling more young people to benefit from the charity’s three-year programme.
