Spinera 2023 SUP S/S Preview
Retail Buyers Guide: SUP S/S 2023 Retail Buyer’s Guide
Many SUP brands expected a comeback to a more rational market in 2022, with a moderate and sound growth. How did things play out eventually?
We had a very good start with Spinera in 2022 especially in SUP and kayak range. From May onwards, the effects of the war in Ukraine were noticeable on the market.
Will you attend Paddle Sports Show in Lyon? Do you think trade shows remain a place where things happen, after a couple years of (quite successful) Zooms & virtual showrooms?
Yes, we will attend Paddle Sports Show in Lyon and are looking forward to it. We think that trade shows will remain a very important place to make business, as distributors/dealers could take a closer look at the products and get a better feeling about the quality, haptic and new innovative technologies. Another very important thing is seeing new faces and partners in person to speak about the market and to share our passion.
What is your strategy to ensure the SS23 products will end up in stores early in the ’23 season?
We have a very good and close cooperation with our factories, which helps us a lot to get products in time. Since we have distribution partners in other continents, where the peak season is the opposite than in Europe, we placed orders with the factory also very early to ensure that products will end up in stores in time for European as well as other continents’ peak season.
In 2022, the majority of SUP brands did cope with the increased costs of material/shipping, not reflected (that much) of the MSRPs. What about the 2023 models?
We are glad that we have been able to keep, or even lower prices for 2023, despite various increased costs.
Please forgive the recurrent question: Beyond the all-around supremacy, any noticeable movement to report in the other categories (touring, SUP surfing, race, river, foiling…)?
All-Around boards are our bestseller. We are seeing an increase in touring boards, even though this is a niche market. We have launched our Spinera Suptour light series (12.0 and 13.0) successfully this year. Our aim was to create a very light series of high-quality touring SUP boards, which are also perfect for river hiking due to their low weight.
Inflatables: Which new technologies & models are you implementing in 2023?
We have been seeing a huge success in our innovative Ultra Light technology in the past, as it is 25-30% lighter than High Density Dropstitch. Therefor we are launching with our brand new Spinera Sun Light series (10.2, 11.0, & 12.0) made of Ultra Light woven Dropstitch the perfect addition to our existing range.
Hardboards: Which new technologies & models are you implementing in 2023?
Our focus is on inflatable SUPs, as they are easy to transport. We do not see a demand for hardboards in comparison to inflatables, therefore we do not have any in our range.
When it comes to the order forms, do you have any piece of advice for retailers? (quantities, categories, inflatable to hardboard ratio, restocking schedule…)
Due to various influences we would recommend retailers to focus on attractive designs, innovative technologies, as well as on a good price-ratio level.
Spinera Sun Light (10.2, 11.0, 12.0)
Our brand new Spinera Sun Light series is made of ultra light woven Dropstitch, which guarantees max. stiffness and durability. It is 25-30% lighter and more stable compared to High Density Dropstitch, which offers numerous advantages. The Sun Light is available in 3 different sizes (10.2, 11.0, 12.0). Each board is equipped with paddle, pump, fin, backpack, leash and repair kit.
Spinera SUP Suprana (10.8)
The Spinera Suprana is a special women’s SUP board which is not only used as a standup paddling board, but is also particularly suitable for yoga exercises on the water due to its width of 86cm and the low rocker, which gives you great stability. The board is equipped with a paddle, pump, fin, backpack, leash, shoulder carry strap and repair kit.
Spinera SUP Suptour Light (12.0 & 13.0)
With our Spinera Suptour light series, we are primarily addressing those, who have already had their first experiences in stand up paddling and are also planning longer trips. It is a very light, high-quality touring SUP, which is also perfect for river hiking due to the low weight. Each board is equipped with a paddle, pump, fin, backpack, leash and repair kit.
