What is your assessment of the 2025 business: new impetus, cleared old stocks, sounder growth, better quality products ?
SUP has reached its growth plateau, so it’s now a case of nurturing current participants and continuing to promote the activity’s USPs, particularly ease of entry and benefits. Improved product, graphics and functionality remain key factors. In some sense, because the frenzy has subsided, we have entered a mature version of what SUP was five years ago, which makes it strangely more predictable.

Do you favor segmented distribution channels? (entry-level allrounders via online D2C and sports chain stores, advanced models for core retailers?)
The traditional vertical chain of selling has long been eroded as the only way to do business. Survival is based on a varied model. For this reason, we’re involved in D2C sales, in addition to special project work with key retailers to make it work. We find this internally motivating as it keeps us on our toes.

Which are your key inflatable models for 2026 in the Allround/Cruising segments?
Our 12’6 inflatable Sunrise board is a key touring board for us, in addition to the more compact 11’6 Sunrise inflatable. Our longer 14’ Gold Rush board remains an important addition to our crushing line, while the compact nature of the 12’6 boards has high appeal, and the 11’6 is a sweet spot for shorter excursions.

Which Specialty iSUPs are growing/decreasing in 2026 ? (Race & Flatwater, River, Fishing, SUP-Kayak, SUP surfing…)
Race boards have never been big turnover items, while family-based inflatable SUP boards make up the bulk of sales. Speciality boards for touring remain a strong second place and the most inspiring for those seeking adventure.

Is innovation stalling or did the SUP reach maturity regarding designs and constructions?
The evolutionary process of the inflatable SUP is constrained by cost. Essentially, it’s a return-on-investment issue, and this cost has to be justifiable to the consumer. There’s only so much the consumer will tolerate in respect of cost versus performance gains in an inflatable. Ten years ago, we were making the lightest inflatables on the market, but they were costly. Today’s inflatables are, in fact, heavier but more durable and less prone to twisting issues. Race board designs have been pushed to some degree of upper limits, creating a polarised market of super-expensive boards that limit the growth of racing.

(hardboard brands only) Which hardboard styles do you push on the forefront of your range? And what about sales volumes compared to inflatables?
The race board market has always been small. Principally, it has been used as a marketing tool with aspirational undertones. Not only is the market small, but also the margins that it’s a risk to invest in the designs, exotic manufacturing, and ultimately, team riders. This is all set against the backdrop that the vast majority of participants see SUP as a casual recreational pursuit rather than a sport.

How can you help retailers make a difference when most SUPs are at a click’s range online?
Offering a similar streamlined B2B online service. Retailers and distributors are no different in wanting a simplified ordering system. Additionally, the required streamlined selling assets include solid content, product information and imagery.
