What is your assessment of the 2025 business?
2025 has been a stabilising year for the SUP market. Excess stock from previous seasons has largely cleared, allowing brands and retailers to reset. We’ve seen more sustainable growth driven by better-informed consumers seeking quality over price. Demand has shifted toward higher-spec constructions and multi-use boards, with innovation around stiffness and durability continuing to drive purchasing decisions.
Do you favor segmented distribution channels?
Yes, segmentation is key. Entry-level boards are well suited to online D2C and large sports retailers, where price sensitivity is higher. Core retailers play a crucial role in selling premium and technical products, where consumers benefit from expert advice, demos, and after-sales support. At Shark SUPs, we strongly support independent retailers with differentiated, high-performance products.
Which are your key inflatable models for 2026 in the Allround/ Cruising segments?
Our key focus in the allround/cruising segment is the 11’6” Cruiser, which we see as the ideal entry and progression board. While we still offer a 10’6” model, we increasingly view this length as a legacy design. If the market were starting fresh today, the 11’6” platform would be the natural starting point. It delivers everything a 10’6” offers in terms of accessibility and versatility, but with the added benefits of improved glide, tracking, and overall stability thanks to the extra length. This makes it a more rewarding board not only for beginners, but also for paddlers looking to progress without needing to upgrade quickly.
Which Specialty iSUPs are growing/decreasing in 2026?
We’re seeing strong growth in touring, adventure, and challenge-style paddling, with more consumers looking to go further, stay out longer, and push their personal limits on the water. This shift is driving demand toward longer, more efficient board shapes that prioritise glide, tracking, and load-carrying capability. For 2026, a key focus is the expansion of our 14’ Speed Plus range, driven by the strong popularity of our 26” and 28” widths. Building on this success, we’ve extended the line-up to include 24”, 30”, and 32” options, offering a broader fit for different rider weights, skill levels, and use cases, from high-performance paddling to maximum stability.
Is innovation stalling or did the SUP reach maturity?
While the SUP market is certainly maturing, innovation is far from stalling. The focus has shifted from drastic shape changes to meaningful performance enhancements that genuinely improve the paddling experience. At Shark SUPs, we took a significant step forward with our 2025 designs and continue to lead in this space. Our now proven clip-on nose cone is a clear example, delivering not only increased speed and glide, but also improved stability and efficiency on the water. Innovation today is about refining performance, adding real user benefits, and pushing inflatable technology closer to hardboard feel—areas where we continue to invest and evolve.

How can you help retailers make a difference?
Retailers in the inflatable SUP market increasingly fall into two categories. On one side, there are passionate paddlers who understand the product deeply and take the time to match customers with the right board. These retailers recognise why we develop ranges like our 14’ Speed series in multiple widths, ensuring paddlers can choose a board tailored to their height, weight, and performance goals. We see strong results with retailers who invest in this level of customer experience and education. On the other side, some retailers have become less engaged with the category, treating inflatable SUPs as a commodity or seasonal add-on. In these cases, boards are often stocked without a clear understanding of construction, performance differences, or user needs. This can lead to situations where consumers purchase a premium-priced product that performs no differently to a low-cost alternative, ultimately undermining trust and long-term participation in the sport.
